Scoring Overview
Scores are given as one to five stars. Five-star ratings indicate climates that are extremely welcoming for students of different worldview identities. One star ratings indicate climates with the greatest room for improvement.
Stars were determined using data from the IDEALS survey (see our technical report). A “perfect score” indicates a hypothetical institution that offers all the services, programs, and resources included in the survey. Stars are assigned based on the percent of the overall possible points that an institution earned. Institutions that had overall and subscale scores ranging from 80%-100% of possible points were assigned five stars; 60%-79.9% four stars; 40%-59.9% three stars; 20%-39.9% two stars; and 0%-19.9% one star.
